About the Redact PDF tool
Covering sensitive text with a drawn black box is a dangerously common trick: the text still exists beneath the box, and selecting and copying is all it takes to expose it — real leak scandals have happened exactly this way in official documents. This tool performs true redaction: it finds the text you specify and actually deletes it from the file's structure, then places the black box over where it was.
Type the text to redact exactly as it appears in the file, and every match across all pages is removed. For several different terms, run the tool once per term. Documents needing redaction are by nature the most sensitive of all — which is why deletion happens entirely in your browser with no upload. To also wipe invisible metadata, follow up with the PDF Metadata tool.

Frequently asked questions
Is the text actually removed, or just covered visually?+
It's actually removed from the page content beneath the black box, so it can't be recovered by selecting or copying text.
Is the search case-sensitive?+
It searches for every exact match of the text, so type it exactly as it appears in the file for the best results.
What if I want to redact more than one different word?+
Run the tool multiple times, once for each word or phrase you want to remove.
